Copies of the current CUE contract (ends September 30) are available in the CUE office, members should read it.
SW news. There have been allegations of credit card misuse. 1 person has resigned and the book-keeper had been put on leave. The matter is being investigated thoroughly.
Sandy swore in our new Treasurer, Christina Cuellar.
Terri reminded everyone to vote in the upcoming SW election.
"Success story of the month"
Chris started by noting that if you go to www.cueunion.org and click on Riverside, that all her contact information is right there.
The group of library employees who work the eveing shift (to midnight) have always been able to move their cars to the loading dock area in the early evening. MSO decided that they could no longer do that, that they had to use the escort/shuttle services instead. Both services end at midnight, so by the time the employees had locked up and were ready to leave, the escort/shuttle people were long gone. Chris set up a meeting and they managed to resolve the issue so that the employees are now able to park in the loading dock area again.
Bargaining - Maria
Stacy is currently bargaining in San Francisco today. Maria handed out copies of a bargaining report from a member in Berkeley. UC's offer has not changed from the 0%, 1.5%, 1.5% they have already offered. Bargaining is still in the informational stage. Bargaining will take place in Riverside at the end of the month. Maria encouraged members to attend. And stated that if anyone had any questions, to feel free to email her.
Chris stated that for anyone interested in attending, that bargaining usually starts between 9:30-10:00am. Lunch is about 12:00-1:30ish pm and the afternoon sessions usually go from 1:30-4:00pm. The bargaining will be located at Extension. She encouraged members to come and noted that the UC bargainers behave better when there are observers. We also need to show UC that we care, that we want raises.
Discussion about 2.5% added into the budget for UC salaries, not a penny is going to the clericals' salary.
Gail suggested having a get-together on the first night of bargaining with CUE's bargainers to allow members to meet them, etc. Discussion about logistics. Maria was enthusiastic about the idea.
