According to the CUE constitution, challenges to the conduct of the election may be filed by any member within 10 days of the vote count. (See CUE constitution, Appendix A, section 2. http://www.cueunion.org/general_info/constitution.php for a summary of the process and remedies.) The deadline to file challenges to this election is Monday, October 11. Challenges must be filed with the statewide executive board. To file a challenge, send an email to clericals@cueunion.org, or fax to (510) 845-7444, or mail to CUE, 2855 Telegraph Ave., #302, Berkeley, CA 94705. Challenges will be forwarded to the statewide board and the election committee.

Voter turnout was low. This may be due largely to the confusion and irregularities in the election process. CUE is revising its procedures to ensure that future elections do not suffer the same problems. To those who participated in this exercise in democratic self-governance, thank you.

In Solidarity,

CUE Election Committee
