Cover Letter to the Membership
April 9, 2003
This is the cover letter sent to all members regarding the vote on the mediator's proposal.
Dear Member of CUE,
Let's get right to the point. What will make the difference in this ballot process is your vote. It is you who will make the difference. Right now, CUE is conducting an all-member vote. The results will be critical to CUE members and working families. With so much of our members' working lives and livelihoods riding on the outcome of this ballot process we cannot afford to sit on the sidelines and watch the outcome.
So cast your vote on the basis of what will benefit you and your family and what's good for CUE and UC's working people. We refused to be looked upon as “only those clericals who are not a priority.” We ask that before you vote you read all the enclosed information and materials. They will give you valuable background information on the issues regarding the ballot. Together, we can make a huge difference. Let's get out there and do it!
Please read these instructions carefully and remember to return your ballot in time to be received at the statewide office by April 30, 2003. If you have questions or need a duplicate ballot, please call 1-888-900-8989 or email clericals@cueunion.org.
Please read these instructions carefully, and remember to return your ballot in time to be received at the statewide office by April 30, 2003. The following information pages are included for your reference in deciding how to vote. There are two questions on which each member should vote:
QUESTION #1 -- whether to accept/reject the mediator's proposed language
QUESTION #2 -- which of the two offered wage packages you would prefer
Document F (blue paper): Financial impact statement for the two wage offers.
Document G (orange paper): A summary of the mediator's proposal, which includes contract language that was tentatively agreed upon in bargaining. (Full text of the proposal and tentatively agreed upon articles are on the website at www.cueunion.org. If you don't have access to the web, call the CUE statewide office at call 1-888-900-8989 or contact the CUE local on your campus.)
