One of CUE's main responsibilities is educating clericals on their rights in the workplace and representing employees in grievances against their employer.
If you are a steward, this page will help you to help your fellow clericals. If you are not a steward, please consider becoming one. By learning to help others, you can help yourself tremendously.
Learn about your rights in the workplace, how to document events to gather evidence for your case, understand the grievance process, or contact a steward to help.
RESOURCES FOR LOCAL STEWARDS
CUE's Chief Steward holds meetings to help stewards handling various types of problems:
- Lawyer's triage is a telephone conference with CUE's lawyers held the first Monday of every month. Contact Jennifer Carrington to learn how to join the conference call.
- Arbitration Appeals Panel is a telephone conference between experienced stewards on all campuses who make decisions about various grievances around the state and whether or not to proceed to arbitration. Contact Mary Higgins, Chief Steward to find out who is the steward from your campus on this committee or to bring an arbitration to the panel for discussion.
- Reclassification Committee is a telephone conference between stewards handling reclassification cases on their campus that meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month. This committee helps each other decide if a reclassification out of the bargaining unit is appropriate and helps the steward make a case for debate with UC regarding the details. Contact Mary Higgins, Chief Steward for more information.
