History

History of CUE Election

Clerical employees at the University of California elected the Coalition of University Employee (CUE) in November 1997. CUE's victory was the culmination of a grassroots effort begun in 1995 by clerical workers UC-wide.

Over 18,000 strong, and stretching from San Diego to Davis, our unit is one of the largest bargaining units in the western United States.

Voters chose CUE over the AFSCME, the union that has represented UC clericals since 1983, and over "No Representation," the option promoted by UC management.

6340 valid ballots were cast and counted in the election, and CUE won 3955 or 63% of the votes.

1346 ballots were cast for AFSCME (21%), and 1039 (16%) were cast for "no representation".

We invite CUE members to join in building a strong union. Your help is needed in many ways. Here are some of the ways you can participate, but joining is the best place to start. Please contact the campus representatives listed in this Web Page to say you would like to help with one or more of the following tasks.
