CUE: Call for Volunteers - Statewide Special Election Committee

The union's state constitution requires that we conduct a special election for any statewide CUE positions that are vacant with 180 days or more remaining in the term. We will conduct a special election for the following positions: President, Treasurer, Trustees (3).

The election process will begin in October and end in mid-January. Therefore, the committee will be meeting by phone several times during this period. There may be one in-person meeting in addition to the ballot count at the state office in Berkeley in January. CUE will cover individual travel expenses for the committee members.

You may look at CUE's web page for the Davis local for Election Rules and Election Committee Procedures that we will adapt for the state election. Election work is a way to get involved for relatively short periods, to meet other CUE members and to make an important contribution that will ensure your union's elections are fair and equitable.

We need to notify the state executive board to confirm the committee and to begin the preparations for the election immediately.
