Sign CUE petition to First Lady Obama
Dear CUE represented coworker:
Please join us in our efforts to shed light on the continuing unconscionable leadership of the Regents and senior managers at the University of California. Join CUE represented employees and their supporters in a campaign for a better contract and for a better working environment for all University of California employees. Please read and sign the petition that we have addressed to First Lady Michelle Obama at:

Why are we engaging in this action? Because at the latest Regents meeting on Thursday, May 7, 2009, the Regents ushered in several actions which, again, highlight the absurd and irrational compensation decisions made by the Regents and salaries and supplemental benefits provided to senior managers of the University of California.
In closed session, the Regents Compensation Committee, once again, discussed compensation exceptions that were later voted on and adopted in the open session without discussion or more importantly, without public comment. One agenda item glossed over in the open session was the Annual Report on Executive Compensation for Calendar Year 2008: Incumbents in Certain Senior Management Positions. Of note are select details for the compensation received by President Mark G. Yudof (see page 108 of the report) especially in light of the initiatives President Yudof put forward since assuming his position. Most recently, President Yudof has pushed for executive powers to declare a financial emergency (if necessary) for the University, which would give him the sole power to initiate layoffs and furloughs at all UC campuses. Additionally, President Yudof pushed for the 9.3% increase in student fees, which was approved by the Regents,
Please take special note of the supplemental retirement contributions the University, as the employer, will make on President Yudof's behalf for the first seven years of his employment. At a time when the Regents are pushing for the restart of contributions and/or redirect of the DCP funds to the UCRP fund by all university employees, they continue to adopt supplemental contributions for the retirement accounts for senior managers. The link to the summary compensation report is:

Please support this action and pass along the Summary Compensation Report and our petition to all university employees to sign. Petition to First Lady Michelle Obama:
Sincerely,
CUE Legislative Committee and CUE Statewide Executive Board
