TIME TO VOTE ON CONTRACT
February 2, 2006
Dear CUE represented UC employee,
On Monday, ballots and background materials were put in the mail for the ratification vote on the CUE/UC tentative agreement for a successor contract. If you are a CUE member and you don't receive your ballot by February 6, 2006, please immediately contact your local CUE office or call the state wide office at 1-888-CUE-WINS to request a ballot and or ratification materials immediately. Ballots are due back to the state wide CUE office or your local office by 5pm on February 13, 2006. Do not vote twice; duplicate ballots will be set aside and your vote won't count.
To facilitate the voting and vote-counting process, many campuses will be providing in-person balloting for members' convenience. For a schedule of the in-person polling for your campus, consult the CUE local on your campus or the CUE web site at: Local Contacts.
You can also find the proposed new language for the contract and Yes and No arguments for ratification at: 2005 Tentative Agreement.
Remember, to have your voice heard in this critical vote you must be a member of CUE -- not just paying the fair share fee. Membership dues are about $1.00/month more than the fees that agency fee-payers already pay. You can download a membership form from the CUE web site and turn it in with your ballot. If you are uncertain whether you are a member of CUE or a fee-payer, check with your local CUE office and/or fill out a membership form to assure that your vote counts. Membership forms are here: Membership Application
We've waited through 18 months of difficult negotiations for this opportunity. Don't let it pass you by--cast your ballot. Demonstrate to UC that you are committed and concerned about your work life at the university.
Sincerely,
CUE bargaining team (Successor Negotiations)
