From July 2004 through December 2005 CUE negotiated further improvements to its contract.
2006-2007 Pension Bargaining
In 2006, UC proposed changes to staff pension benefits mid-contract, necessitating immediate
negotiation. Because these proposed changes would affect all staff, an unprecedented coalition
bargaining team was organized comprising members from CUE, AFSCME and UPTE. This UC Union
Coalition (UCUC) Bargaining Team met repeatedly with the University beginning October, 2006.
By May, 2007 with more than 60,000 UC Union members putting tremendous pressure on the University
over their planned pension paycuts, the University announced a delay in their proposed
implementation. Read the Coalition bargaining updates here.
