Bargaining Report No. 1

2008: Bargaining Report #1: April 14, 2008, Exchange Proposals

CUE has engaged in preparation for bargaining for a successor contract. Our present contract ends on September 30, 2008. Included in these negotiations, will be any raise we get in 2008.

The team is trying something new this time and UC has agreed to the process referred to as Interest Based Bargaining (IBB) as opposed to traditional bargaining.

IBB attempts to address both parties' interests and produce "elegant solutions". A Federal Mediator Valarie Harrigan from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service will be facilitating the negotiation sessions.

The team has developed proposals which were exchanged with UC on April 14, 2008. You can view both CUE's and UC's proposals at the CUE web site: http://www.cueunion.org/cue_home.php. Copies are also available at the campus/lab/medical center main library locations for viewing.
