CUE has engaged in preparation for bargaining for a successor contract. Our present contract ends on September 30, 2008. Included in these negotiations, will be any raise we get in 2008. CUE and UC are trying a new approach to the bargaining process for this round called Interest Based Bargaining (IBB). IBB attempts to address both parties' interests and produce "elegant solutions". A Federal Mediator Valarie Harrigan from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service will be facilitating the negotiation sessions.
