CUE bargainers met with UC at the UC Davis campus on October 22 and 23, 1998. The first day was spent discussing local Davis issues and much progress was made. UC Davis Medical Center management came prepared to work with CUE to resolve many local issues, and at the end of the day it was clear that everyone on both sides of the table felt it had been a very useful and productive session.
On the second day CUE presented UC with our interim wage proposal. Based on UC's previous acceptance of an interim agreement on comp time, and their proposal of an interim agreement on parking, CUE proposed that UC distribute the money allocated by the legislature and other funding sources in a timely manner. This includes a 2% range adjustment for all UC clericals, and funding for step increases. In addition CUE presented the principles of our long-range wage package. UC responded with a verbal proposal on interim wages, and will provide its written proposal to CUE by the middle of this week.
Bargaining will continue on this issue at our next meeting, scheduled for Irvine on November 4 & 5, 1998.
